Who am I?

With my time in the United States Navy growing short, I am working to towards the future, and earning a degree in Digital Maker and Fabrication is part of this journey.  I have spent the last twenty years moving around the country and deploying around the world to rest in Virginia for the time being.  I am interested in trying to make the future better, by using my experience from the past.

One of my goals is to help help prioritize efficient manufacturing and reduce material waste.  With additive manufacturing becoming more pronounced and less expensive, there has been an increased draw towards its use.  The process can produce less material waste in the manufacturing process than using subtractive manufacturing, however there is still a certain amount of waste, based on the need for support material, or failed parts.  This waste can be an impact to the process and the environment, so have a method to minimize, or re-use the material would be a benefit throughout the industry.  With this in mind, as I venture out into the field, I intend on having designs that minimize the use of support material, and/or have a method to recycle any material that cannot be used in the final project.
